Our tour of duty over, those of us who were left standing, were rounded up and sent back to the world.

We were greeted by cheering crowds  at the Seattle/Tacoma airport in the state of Washington. Ok, so maybe the Leftist demonstrators behind the chain link fence were cursing at us and spitting insults and rage instead (Did I see Hillary and Bill in the crowd?). These demonstrations had to be planned and organized, as I do not believe that anyone would just randomly wait at the service gate that the military used for our bus ride to Fort Lewis Washington.

At this point I did not really care as my military experience was soon over.

And besides, the repair team was quick to explain that we had to learn to behave like civilized humans again. They had even taken our rifles and other sharp things away from us. Did they think we would over-react and shoot the demonstrators? Hmmm...

Actually, they were not called the repair team, but that is what they did from the Army's perspective. These were the officers and non-coms who were responsible for erasing all traces of living in "Green Hell" for a year.

They had simple but effective leverage... Either get a haircut and remove all traces of facial hair or they would endlessly delay your orders releasing you from military service. Followed quickly by a court-martial for disobeying a direct order. After having one of these mean-spirited weasels screaming in your face after a year or more of living on the edge, I would bet that I was not the only one who would have traded a few more weeks in country to invite a few of these boys to a fragging party in their honor. They would not have lasted long in country in an Infantry company.
