"You only need to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases that our founding fathers used in their struggle for independence."
 - C. A. Beard

After my return home, I spent a few months learning to live like a human being, re-establishing contacts with old friends and collecting an in-person "Dear John" letter from my girlfriend. I guess that's what it was when they tell you "by the way, I'm getting married in three weeks!"

That Garth Brooks song comes to mind: Unanswered Prayers.
As in: "Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers..."

I moved south to Daytona Beach, Florida late in 1969 and enrolled as a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. While in Florida I met and married the love of my life, Judy Storey, and rejoiced in the birth of both of my sons.  Also acquired a BS degree and a Commercial Pilot's license. The license went away with the loss of most of my high frequency hearing. A long term residual effect, say the VA doctors, caused by some of the noises that we made while on vacation in Vietnam. Oh well....

After graduation, my family and I returned to Long Island. While in New York, My daughter Jenna was born, and we were able to adopt our youngest daughter Patricia.

I spent twenty years working for the Allstate Insurance Company, first in Underwriting, and then as a Sales Manager. A sales manager is also known by a lot of other names, most of which he or she doesn't get to hear. But company expectations are high, and I suppose that the unrelenting sales pressure that needs to be applied to many insurance agents is good... Well at least in terms of increased profits for the companies that make Rolaids, Mylanta and Tums.

During our time in New York we experienced the passing of my wife Judy's mother, then my dad and mom respectively.

We moved back to Florida in 1994.  We live just outside the city of Port Orange,  just to the south of Daytona Beach. After six years of owning a small business here, I have started a new career as a Mortgage Closing Agent and Public Notary. Although I still have to work for a living, when I finish my business each day... I'm in Florida!

In 1984, the greatest milestone in my life was passed when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Savior. I'll need to save all of the reasons for another soon to be created page on this site. For now let's leave it with the fact that in spite of a great career and a loving and wonderful family, there was a terrible emptiness and lack of direction in my life. When I felt lost and without purpose, He spread our his arms to welcome me home. He has been my Rock and my Salvation ever since. Like you, I have, and will continue to experience the same peaks and valleys as most other folks. The difference is, He has always been there. There is some verse that was written by Christian recording artist Steve Camp a few years ago that pretty well says it all, in a more concise way then I could hope to..

When you're alone and your heart is torn, He's all you need.
When you're confused, your soul is bruised, He's all you need.
He's the Rock of your soul, He's the anchor that holds through your desperate time.
When your way is unsure, His love will endure, His peace you will find.
Through all your years, the joy the tears, He's all you need.

When you give in to that familiar sin, He's all you need.
Guilt has you paralyzed, it slowly eats you alive, He's all you need.
He'll be faithful to you though your heart is untrue and your love's grown cold
His forgiveness  is real, it will comfort and heal your sin weary soul.
God loves you so, He'll never let you go, He is all you need.
